Biography

​Encouraged by her mother, Lauree started painting as a teenager, attending evening classes with the Barrhead Art Club. Lauree stayed with the club until she graduated from High School. Since then, she has taken many courses from the University of Alberta and U of A Extension Dept. Some of the instructors she has painted with are Paul Braid, Tommie Gallie, Jerry Heine, Brian Atyeo and Gregg Johnson. Two of her paintings were chosen by the Town of Drayton Valley as gifts to their sister town , Atsuma in Japan.
 
In 1992, Lauree was accepted as an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Before retiring, Lauree taught art and math at H.W. Pickup School in Drayton Valley. Presently she belongs to the Jasper Plein Air Watercolour Retreat. And Jasper Artists Guild. Because downhill and Nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and watercolor painting are a huge part of her life, Lauree makes frequent trips to Jasper to participate in these activities and to get inspiration.
