Janine Anselmo
My passion for art began early and over the years I have been able to take classes offered at the museum and the University of Alberta Department of Extension. I have had the privilege of studying with some great professors. I married in 1958 and raised six children. I searched for a community of artists to connect with and found the Federation of Canadian Artists in Edmonton who later formed their own group, the Society of Western Canadian Artists. I also belong and serve on the board of the international Visual and Performing Arts Society of Canada. Several medium appeals to me, including oils, acrylics and watercolors, I love to work in all the mediums and I love a variety of subject matter, ranging from children’s portraits to vast landscapes of the Canadian Rockies. Our family’s summer home is located in the heart of the Rockies and my love for the mountains, rivers, streams, be it in rain, snow or brilliant sunshine, it never ceases to amaze and challenge me to try and capture the magic created there. My other passion is people and I feel so satisfied if I can capture even a little glimmer of what makes that person special. I have been taught by well known professors, Ralph Roberts Carmichael, Jerry Heine, Harry Savage, Art Evoy, Jim Vest, Jean Pederson, Linda Kemp, Gregg Johnson, Graham Flatt. I have had shows with groups of artists, the Society of Western Canadian Artists, the International Visual and Performing Arts Society of Canada, Lake Edith group, and the Jasper Artists Guild and have contributed a large portion of a mural for the Make a Wish Foundation. |
