I was born in Northern Saskatchewan, my father a logging truck driver and my mother raising us alone while he often worked away at camp. I was the middle child, adventurous, barely home and always out exploring. I spent many hours alone in the woods, always drawing, and with a keen eye learned to sketch quickly the birds, animals and scenes around me. I carry these memories with me to this day and although I later studied graphic design, and work as a commercial artist, I have always felt that as an artist I was self-taught. Influenced only by my constantly changing environment. My paintings are not about capturing every aspect of a particular landscape but more the feeling of a place. I want to leave a little to the imagination, so that you can see the scene for yourself. Allowing a person to create their own interpretation, feel the wind on their face, the cool air, the sun, the smell of the earth or whatever else the image may bring to mind. Each persons experience should be there own, as individual as themselves and their own memories.
